Tyres and prices

My new wheels have arrived so tyres were needed.

I found a BFgoodrich rear 295-50-15 for around £340 on the net.

Thats to me very expensive, especially after paying for 2 new rear 10X15 wheels from mr Roin!

I then found thanks to a friendly Pantera owner these.

Nankang 225-50-15 front tyre £52

Nankang 295-50-15 rear tyre £83

Including tax total for 4 tyres £270

I know nothing about Nankang, but they are rated at 130mph.


I know they can't be Pirelli or Michelins, but I'm not Lewis Hamilton either!

Are these available in America? if so whats the consensus of opinion with them?

4 tyres for a price cheaper than 1? its a no brainer.

Hi Peter
Be aware your insurance will check the speed rating of your tyres if you have an accident, they did on mine and you may get some grief from them since all Panteras can exceed 130MPH even if you never get close to that speed, I would stick to the better known makes Michelin, Pirelli, Dunlop etc not only will your car drive and handle better but breaking will also be improved and I can imagine your rebuild costs so far and adding a few more £££'s probably won't make a big difference to your outlay, i have owned five Panteras in my life and tyres do make a difference and I can tell you my current GTS has 245/40 17 at the front and 335/35 17 at the rear and I have absolutely NO tramlining,
just my opinion Peter.

Thanks for the heads up Stelios, butI,m a retired engineer, always a wage slave, and a pirelli front tyre is £286 for one, way out of my pay scale, it just isn't feasible.

KJELD Thanks for the link, the Nanking on your link was 70 pence cheaper than the amount I paid, but I can live with that. Cheers.
