Hey everyone, I need to get my car to Phoenix really bad. I have been looking into purchasing a car hauler, but haven't been able to find one.

Has anyone used one of the U Haul auto transport trailers with their P, or any vehicle with very little ground clearance? I am thinking about renting one. Price isn't bad, but I am not sure the P will get up on it.

The brakes are bad on my car, and it is not registered currently, that is why I cannot just drive it out there.

Thanks for any help.

Hey Kats:

I've seen Chris Qualls at the races with his Pantera on a UHaul trailer. The ramp is a little too steep for his car so Chris needs to raise the front end of the trailer to keep it from scraping on the way up and down.

Lots of racers who have low cars buy those plastic ramps at the local parts store that folks use to raise their cars for oil changes. They put them behind their tow vehicle's wheels and back the truck up the ramps. That usually raises the front of the trailer enough to avoid scraping.

Also, all the UHaul trailers I've seen have a wheel-stop on the front that might hit those Pantera that have an aftermarket front spoiler.

Lastly, have a friend with you when you load and unload for the first time. You won't be able to see any part of the trailer as you load and unload and it's a little nervewracking until you get used to it.

That looks very muck like the setup that I use. The high deck trailer lets me open the door over the fenders. Since I dont have any chin spoiler, the valance clears the ramps just fine.

I do have to use some 2 ft pieces of 5/4 deck plank at the bottom of the ramps to get the MR2 loaded without dragging the chin spoiler.

Thanks for the info. I made a reservation for Thursday to get the trailer and I am taking the car up to Coz's house in Peoria.

Coz has gratiously offered to help me do some work on the car. I am a total retard when it comes to working on this car. I am very lucky to have friends like Coz and others on this forum.

Hey RRS, if your reading this.....

You free Thursday?

I had a blow out hauling the last Pantera. Took the next exit, had a tire shop right there. 1 Hour before closing! When I hauled the TransAm, I stopped in Indy. I had a U-bolt break on an axle. Needed repairs and a tire. Stopped at a gas station and was right down the road from what I would call a "Trailer Walmart" so to speek....1 hour before they closed.

I have officially used up all my trailer luck! Having 2-axles is very helpful. I was able to cary the car to get it serviced on both ocasions.
