Concorso attendance involves making 2 separate arrangements: (1) Motel Accommodations, (2) Concorso Entry (Friday). Of course there are many other things to do during the Pebble Beach Week/Classic Car Week in Monterey. Many people round off their weekend by attending other events. Two of the more popular events for Pantera owners have been the Historic Races at Laguna Seca (Saturday August 16) and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance (Sunday August 17). I shall provide the information for all 4 to get you started.

Enthusiasts interested in attending the Concorso Italiano this year are advised to make your decisions and arrangements this week. The reserved motel rooms have a financial deadline that Pantera International must meet in order to retain our reserved block of rooms. PCNC payed a large sum of money up front to reserve the track-side parking at Laguna Seca. PCNC needs your participation in order to recoup their investment.

MOTEL ACCOMODATIONS

As in past years, Pantera International has a block of rooms reserved at the Monterey Beach Dunes motel. The motel is located just around the corner from where Reservation Road dead ends at the sand. The motel is literally across the street from the sand, a short walk to the ocean’s edge. Also across the street from the motel is an AJ Spurs Restaurant (steak and sea food). With the Concorso Italiano moving to the Marina Airport, it is literally a simple 4 mile drive on Reservation Road between the Concorso and the motel.

Room rates are $210 single/$235 double for August 14, 15 and 16. Outside those dates the room rates are $100 single/$120 double. Each room shall also be billed a 10% occupancy tax and 50 cent county tourism assessment. Single rooms include a queen size bed, double rooms include 2 double size beds. All rooms are non-smoking.

Pantera International must make a $5000 payment on July 1 in order to retain our block of rooms. If you plan to attend the Concorso, please reserve your rooms no later than Monday June 30th.

To reserve your rooms please telephone Justin at the club office 805-524-5248, Monday through Thursday.

Historic Races at Laguna Seca Raceway Saturday August 16th

The Pantera Corral at Laguna Seca is being run by the Pantera Club of Northern California (PCNC) this year. There will be no luncheon provided this year, but the same parking location has been acquired, which is far superior to general parking. This also allows you to fellowship with your fellow Pantera owners, and constitutes one of the largest gathering of Panteras anywhere in the world outside of the Concorso itself. It has been a favorite Saturday event for many owners for many years.

A Pantera Corral parking pass is only available to those who purchase their tickets for the Laguna Seca Historic Races through PCNC. Pantera Corral parking for your DeTomaso automobile is a FREE benefit of buying your tickets through PCNC, there is NO EXTRA COST for the Pantera Corral parking pass.

PCNC needs to hear from you no later than Friday July 25th if you want the tickets and parking pass mailed to your home, or Friday August 8th if you want to pick your tickets and parking pass up at the Concorso.

Purchase your tickets for the Laguna Seca Historic Races on the PCNC web site at:

http://www.panteraclubnorcal.com/

For those of you who have heard or read the cruel rumors that Pantera International is falling apart and was incapable of running this parking corral, please don’t be alarmed by what you hear or read. The individuals spreading this falsehood never contacted me, Justin or Jim Cozzolino; it's all just assumptions on their part.

Those of you who are acquainted with Jim Cozzolino and I know that we both have a preference for events involving driving our cars. Since the entire day Friday is spent displaying the cars at the Concorso, we feel a more "balanced" weekend would involve taking the cars on the road Saturday. Jim and I were not interested in running the parking corral at Laguna Seca. We wanted the opportunity to plan a road event for Saturday, but we didn’t want to cancel the parking corral because we knew it was popular with a number of people. Larry Stock of Pantera Parts Connection gave me the idea to offer PCNC the chance to run the corral. What a wonderful solution, and another example of how the two clubs can and do work together for the good of our hobby.

Jim has not finalized plans on our road event, so I have nothing to report to you about it at this time.

I would like to add, just for anyone who has not been before, that the Historic Races at Laguna Seca is a FANTASTIC event. Plus, the Pantera coral parking is awesome and super convenient for track access and escape at the end. I went last year and even though I was in a Lambo and not my Pantera, I was still treated great (we did park off to one side so as not to spoil anyone's photos).

The Concorso Italiano is the worlds largest gathering of Italian automobiles and celebration of Italian style.

It's now apparent that my engine rebuild will not be complete in time for this year's Concorso Italiano, so I'm offering my "Italian Vehicle Display/Exhibitor Pass" for sale at the original discounted early registration price of $75. That's half of what it would cost to register for Concorso today! And $100 off the cost as of August 1.

What you get:

  • Entrance for your registered car, motorcycle or boat and two vehicle occupants as you enter the event.
  • Two vouchers for the Italian Vehicle Hospitality Pavilion
  • One Event Goodie Bag
  • One Collector's Event Magazine

Following is the current Concorso pricing, but I'm offering my vehicle display pass for the original early registration discounted price of only $75.

  • July 7 - July 31: $150.00
  • August 1 - August 15: $175.00

Contact me directly if you're interested. First come first served! If on one from the Pantera community expresses interest today, then I'll post it to the Ferrari forums this evening.

Cheers!

Due to family obligations, my 25th wedding aniversary, I will not be going to the Concorso, unless of course I am willing to sleep out doors for the forseeable future. Anyway, I am offering my tickets at the same deal garth offered, $75 early registration deal. Call my cell phone 310-200-6021 or email me at snk20@yahoo.com. Steve Griffin
To go with Steve's tickets, I have a reservation at Motel 6 Salinas South; 2 bed room, arrival 08/14, departure 08/17 and nightly rate of $85.09.

I reserved this early in the year to lock in a cheap rate and won't make Concurso this year due to other committments. Motel 6 ain't the Ritz, more somewhere to crash at the end of a long day, but it is by far the cheapest way to stay in the area (if your on a budget) during Concurso and the Historic Races. I've done it this way the past 2 years and it's an easy drive to Laguna Seca and not too far to Concurso.

If someone wants to take over the reservation I assume it would just take a call to Motel 6 and get it changed to your name and credit card.
