Hi guys. I'm new to the whole Pantera thing,
but love the car and am looking at one.

Question: What's a '74 worth ?
~120,000 miles on it.
-original campi wheels
~20,000 miles since ZF overhaul and full motor rebuild using SVO parts. Stroked 351C works out to ~406ci. Dyno'd at ~410HP.
-cooling upgrade (fans & rad) from Hall.
-no wing (boo, hiss) or wide body stuff.
-body off restoration about 10 years ago.
-no visible rust that I can see.
-no accidents/clear title.

Looking for lots of opinions guys...

First, IMHO the overall condition of the whole car is paramount- it makes zero difference whether its a 71, a 74 or other. This will be a personal thing since earlier cars had small mostly-useless chrome 2-piece bumpers, while the cars built after Sept 72 had large one-piece rubber bulmers of only slightly more function. Another thing- '74s are still smog-controlled in many states including CA, while the '71-72s are not. Rust in several well-known places in the one-piece body/frame is extremely difficult, and expensive, to get rid of. Second- the condition of the ZF transaxle is also extremely expensive to fix, parts are of limited availability and service is restricted. The aftermarket stuff you list is valuable to you but not to the extent of commanding a premium price. Look on the websites catering to Panteras, multiply the asking prices by 80% (0.8) and you'll be close.
Jack,
and others,

As you know I host the www.geocities.com/detomaso4sale site,
and I find most cars sell closer to 90% of asking price (if priced fairly), or more.

Although I don't post actually selling price,
I do know most of the transaction values.
Cars often sell for the asking price !
(So you gotta price fairly !)

Cars that are for sale longer than 6 months are either geographically undesireable - meaning expensive to transport to the buyer,
(Like South Africa), or are over-priced.

Certain speciality cars (for example: mega $$$ restoration Mangusta) will take longer to place in the new foster home.

That car would be market correct at $30-35,000 +/-. if the quality is as you describe. Good cars under that range are hard to find. You are wise to do your research before you buy, rather than after. Please post again if you buy this car or another so that other potential buyers or sellers can be mindful of your experience. Dave Adler - Pantera International
