Does anyone know who sells a vent to replace the rear grill?

Yes, about a year ago I got one from Hall...it is fiberglass. But if you are not running AC, I wonder what that area may look like all sealed up and smooth?

Are you talking about the AmeriSport AC replacement louver?

You have to remove the AC condenser shroud from it's position---not pull the hoses---to expose the original screen's nuts. Pull the nuts, drop off the original screen and install the new louver. I built this part originally in 1981 (into production shortly after) so it did not look like the car had a big square hole in the back from a distance.
...How does it look when mounted Up-Side-Down with the openings pointing UP? Would that allow for the Heated Air to escape more efficiently?...

Normal air movement direction, from the AC condenser fan, is to PULL the air into the condenser, not blow it out.

So normally, air is not escaping at the grill, but going in.
