Virginia City Hillclimb?

Truth be told? Wonderful hill. Of course, if you organize (can't call it that, but don't have another word) or are a big deal in the club . . .you can't just cut in line at will.

Worst organization of any event I have ever run, but I may be spoiled by ORR and mile events.

I ran it in 2009, great event and I had a great time. It's a combined Ferrari/Shelby Club event with more of the former when I ran.

You don't get to know your times until the Sunday evening dinner after it's over, so bring your own stopwatch or iPhone holder.

Why was it so badly organized?

Joules, anything that you would recommend as far as setup for a Pantera?

I ran it in my Ultima, they won't let the newbies run slicks so had to stick to street tires. I ran 3:43, the car had a lot more, I didn't bring big enough cajones! Especially after seeing an F355 upside down on fire (had a tire failure) and a brand new Z06 go straight over the edge on a turn (ran out of talent). IMO it's not so much the setup, but being aware of your surroundings (no guard rails in a lot of sections) and reacting if anything goes wrong.

When I ran I didn't think the organization was bad. You have to drive back down to the start through Virginia City, obviously the cops patrol that section heavily and anyone who get's a ticket is immediately disqualified from further runs.

Cant answer why. Wrong info sent out for tech, it was known but nothing done to correct it. As mentioned, allowing some to cut in line - this is BS. Also, no way to get answers to questions?

Who produced the event the year you had the org problems?

It looks like they just released the 2017 dates. It falls on the exact weekend of the Silver State Classic.

What are the chances?

I've not run this event, but both So-Cal Ferrari clubs (who weren't speaking to each other at the time), the Audi club and I think the SAAC have organized VC hillclimbs in the past. Some are apparently better at it than others. Among Panteras, Jr Wilson ran it one year with his monster ORR Pantera and impressed everyone.

Anyone planning to go this year?
