I found someone who has a pair of baby turbos they want to get rid of, and they will sell them to me for cheap. My question is, will they be a "direct replacement" for my stock little chrome square mirror? I only have one, on the drivers side, obviously. It is mounted to the door with 2 screws.

Anybody have these?

Thanks.

I have them.
I would say that you can cover the existing mounting holes with them. I don't know if that is the best location for it though.
Since I have the power units and the car was repainted with using these mirrors in mind, I don't remember if they are mounted in the same location. I don't think so.
I believe that they were moved forward on the doors as far as possible.
I believe that these mirrors may have been stock on the GT5 (as well as the Lamborghini Countach and a few of the Ferraris).
There are a lot of Panteras with them.
Adam I'm not sure which mirrors are currently mounted on your car, Ford mirrors tend to have a very long base with mounting holes spaced very far apart, in comparison to aftermarket mirrors. The Ford "sport" mirrors on my Pantera have mounting holes over 6" center to center.

I have a set of the real deal Vitaloni "turbo" mirrors on the shelf, the cast base of those mirros is only 5" in overall length. I would not be able to install the Vitaloni mirrors without exposing one of the mounting holes of my current Ford mirrors.

The baby turbos are not the same mirror as the turbo. The turbo is a much more expensive mirror, with a more expensive mounting system and a more elaborate "break away" feature. The turbo is the mirror installed oem on Panteras in the '80s. The baby turbo was sold by Vitaloni as an aftermarket style mirror, it was designed without all the expensive features of the "turbo" to keep the price down. When I last checked, one of our vendors sold a new Vitaloni turbo for $130 each. They are no longer manufactured and hard to find. Pegasus Racing sells the baby turbo for $80 each, which is no bargain.

It should be easy enough to ask the seller to measure the overall length of the baby turbo mirror's mounting base, and at least you'll have an idea if it is long enough to hide both mounting holes of your existing mirrors. I'll guess the baby turbo base is only 4 3/4" long, and the maximum spread of the mounting holes is only 3 3/4" center to center. (I own a set of Vitaloni Concept V mirrors with those dimensions, I believe the Concept V has the same mounting base as the baby turbo).
