I once got a call from the police asking if I was the owner of a Pantera that was abandoned on the side of the road. They got my number by looking up the plate. Pretty simple.
I told them I was, and discovered that it was stolen out of my friends trailer where it was on the way to a show. I phoned him and he discovered his truck and trailer had been stolen. I picked him up and we rushed over to where the police had found the car. His rig was gone but the car was abandoned because the throttle cable had slipped off the pedal - thankfully!
I never thanked anyone else as the police did not divulge who had called it in. But I thanked the police over and over and sent their station a nice gift.
But in case it was you who found it and called the police... thanks!

Oh. That was in the 90s, near Montreal and the car was white. But thanks anyways for not keeping it in a damp barn, covered in hay.
