Totally correct! Resto Mod Vettes are the greatest. I continue to look for another Corvette (Sting Ray) as that's where this "mess" started over 25 years ago.

Sorry, a detractor here. To me, bloated and ungainly 'rethink' of a period-beautiful car.

Maybe we should repaint the Mona Lisa, give her some Botox and show a little more cleavage this time around.

"Original" with upgrades (I know, a near contradiction in terms, but this IS a Pantera forum) is fine. But a 'new' body, reinterpreted, widened, flattened, scraped, and stretched over a skeleton from 5 decades in the future is just another abstraction to me. (I'm guessing a C5 lurks underneath?)

Minor consolation prize: I greatly appreciate the amount of work and talent that went into this; just don't want to stand too near and be mistaken for the owner.

That Vette is very nice. I have seen it in person at a show.
Here is my 63 Vette. It is a full chassis car, twin turbo all aluminum small block Nelson Racing motor making 1580hp and 1300ft/lbs, leather and suede interior (floors leather too), aluminum hood and belly pans. list goes on.

The Boyd C split window -63. Bad ass ride!! Guess the engine make the car move at an aceptable pace..

The 'Vette that is the main topic of this thread looks good, and looks well done. But I don't know what I think of "rethinking" such a classic design. To me it starts feeling like a rip off rather than a modified car.

The black car needs some more of the chrome trim put back on it ( headlights/cove )... The split window is a killer car, makes me want to drink and drive...

When I first started to follow these forums I was very surprised how many pantera owners also owned vettes! IMHO the red split window is absolutely bitchen. The black car not so much.

I like original. The body of the 60 should have been left stock then every thing else could be upgraded. I restored a 73 vette with a 454 and once done I sold it. I honestly hated the car. The ride sucked, I felt like I was in a coffin, my feet went to the center of the car and the steering wheel was straight. The power steering pump and lines kept leaking, even when replaced with new ones. When I finally found the car I really wanted, a Pantera I loved it. The vette always felt front heavy while the Pantera floats down the road. To me there is just no comparison. Sorry, I'm off topic. Other than a Pantera a 63 original split window was always my favorite.

Garth- It is not one of the ones from Street Rods only but I do tons of business with him making wheels for about 70% of his cars.
Larry- It is much more of a trailer queen then most cars. In 2.5 years since completed it has about 250 miles on it. Has only left the garage to go to Hot August nights in Reno twice and then driven to a couple local shows. In Reno I drove it all week.

The black one: Right, Good, Beautiful,& Bitchen.
The red '63: All of the above + Incredible!! BTW, I sold my red '62 Vette to buy the Pantera & I have to agree 100% with 74LQQKR. Although being a "Classic" looking car it rode like a buckboard, no AC, no disc brakes, no power windows, etc,etc. Everytime I crawled underneath it to fix something it became more apparent that the car was built more like a kit car than a production line vehicle. I essentially traded Vette for Pantera & I'll never regret it!

Bad idea in my opinion. I really like the updated pro touring look but the black corvette doesn't have this look. It's more of a street rod look. Give me stock body and trim to go with the latest and greatest chassis and drivetrain. The black car is beautiful but just not right in my opinion. If I was wanting a Chevy just give me Big Red
