The weight difference between a 351W and a 351C is due to the wider Cleveland
heads. Short blocks are very similar. The difference is cut in half when
using aluminum heads. The weight of the FE big block is influenced by the
extra wide and heavy (80 lbs) iron intake manifold. With an aluminum intake,
they a 390 is not that much heavier than a 351C. 427's and 428's are a bit
heavier than 390's due to their beefier blocks (also true for FT truck blocks).

The 4.6L SOHC (iron block and aluminum heads = 600 lbs) and 4.6L DOHC
(aluminum block and heads = 576 pounds) engines are quite heavy for their
displacement due to there massive external size. This visual comparison

The 5.4L engines are larger and heavier still (taller block with longer
stroke crank).
