I am sure this has been asked before, but I can't find it. I would like to know if I should use a dual pattern cam or single pattern for my 351. A short breakdown on my engine is: 30 over; forged TRW's; 2V heads that were polished and port matched to my Weiand 2V X-cellerator; 700 dbl pumper Holley; I am putting everything together now but haven't decided on which type. I've heard it both ways. I'm looking for good torque and revs to about 5500.

One of my Pantera buddies just had is stock 73- 74 Pantera upgraded with a Comp Cam 292H part number 32-234-4 with a blue thunder intake and a 750 double pumper. It sounds absolutely fantastic and pulls very strong. Interesting that the cam works well with the later low compression 351C found in the 73 74 Panteras. Brakes work fine too but you wouldnt think so from the radical idle.

100% of the U.S cam grinder have a Tech Line staffed with experts to answer such questions, and I earnestly recommend you call them. You will need to know what you expect out of your new engine, and many of the details regarding the parts in your particular engine and your driving style. All these are vitally necessary to choosing the right cam for your use. I also suggest you purchase the "engineered kit" all grinders sell, as the cam, lifters and valve springs must work together to make a 'happy' motor. Occasionally, someone will simply slam a new cam into an engine, and this often produces rapid wear, valve float and general dissatisfaction with that cam maker, when the fault really lies with trying to use mis-matched components. The Tech Line info is free, BTW.
