I know I'm a cynic but $5K sure seems a lot for some formed ferrous oxide. Is that a "real" racing history? Could there even be $100 worth of usable parts on this car? Help me see what I'm missing here.

Looks like the car caught fire right where it is sitting now. The one picture shows the front wheel. Center section of wheel still attached to hub with tire and ashes still on the ground.
Now the Can Am car they have for sale is a great find. I didnt read the text of the auction, but a BOSS big block is in place. That should be a 494 engine. Very nice, but for a $100K way out of my price range.

I guess the 35K car is the Klienpeter ISMA race car with a good history. It is a rich people ONLY car as you would have to buy it, hire someone profesional to restore it and then take it to Barrat Jackson to sell it. It would probably bring over 100K, but you would have to spend 200K restoreing it. But that is just what rich people do. They stimulate the economy like that. Buy high sell low. That ain't the way their grandparents made the fortunes they feel obligated to fritter away, but it is what they do anymore.
He musta been wanting to use the other one for burned out spares??? Who knows. The longer I live, the stranger people seem to get.
