Great cars. Have had two Meraks, one late SS that was far better than the earlier one, always lusted for a Bora. The Citroen hydraulics always put me off.

Something in the 500 car range produced (I'm sure Wiki would tell us exactly). The one pictured has Euro bumpers, which look nicer but offer no protection.

Four cam V8 Bora exhaust note is very good, especially with Euro headers.

To me, Pantera is prettier. Same tail lights though!
Mr Hudson, rumor has it that thanks to A. DeTomaso buying the Maserati factory, the last 5 or 6 Boras had non-Citroen 'regular' brakes and non-Citroen dashboards, and the last dozen or so Meraks had ZFs in place of the weak Renault transaxles in earlier ones. I once had a short discussion with Jay Leno at Monterey on why he owns a Bora but not a Pantera in his gigantic collection... and he said he really didn't know why. This was several years ago so maybe he's found the money by now and does own one. I know he's looked at a Mangusta in L.A.
1981.....Sears Point.....Bondurant School.....John Schneider and I have just brought his Bora in off of the track.....It was still cracklin' and poppin'.....And we are still smilin'.....Great days with a great Maserati.....

This Mecom auction page from 2009 has more Bora photos and a really informative history of the Maserati marque

Far as the 'non Citroen' comment, my crusty memory seems to recall that being mentioned years ago. Even seem to remember an ad that touted same, way back. THAT would be the Bora to have, but everybody who has the hydraulics working well claims 'no issue'.

I'm just a tiny bit paranoid about 2500 psi of French engineering with green LHM in my interior!

Maybe you talked Leno into a Pantera. Would be fun to scour his site and see if he 'found the money' for one!

The Bora is a looker. Always thought the seats were as futuristic as any car ever made, actually appearing like the original Pantera prototype, with the cascading pleats.

Hope this shows up...

Bora's had - at the time - tremendous attention to sound isolation. Rear glass, then an engine cover, plus glass above and to the sides of that. A clip on Top Gear episode remarked how effective this was. Could still hear the V8, but not feel like you were living with it.
