The best car show on the central coast is coming up on August 24th, "Windmills and Wheels".
The wonderful location of Solvang will host the 9th annual event, the streets of the Disney-est
little village fills all the streets in the hart of town. The finest cars from all over the America make it to this event, and it is JUDGED!
The venue has a large number of trophies and special plaques and a large sport car class, so you won't be tossed in with lowered Mazda's and Toyota's. Last year I was honored to receive best in class so I won't be in the modified imported class this year. Please check it out, it is family oriented and a real BLAST!!! (REGISTER NOW OR YOU WON'T GET INTO THIS VERY POPULAR SHOW)

Solvang. Allow me to high-jack this thread. Solvang is a small Danish like community. The school I went to in here in Denmark is called Solvangsskolen (the school of Solvang). So as a Dane we of course visited Solvang when in CA last. Of course we were welcomed warmly when we told them we were from Denmark. But frankly that town doesn't look like Denmark at all, and some of the Danish specialties sold, we'd had never heard of them. Regardless, funny to see Danish street names. But the message is, if you want to know about Denmark (and who doesn't) you have to come over here. And no, we don't have polar bears roaming the streets.

I realize I'm a bit off the thread topic now. But allow me to go one further. Here's what I remember best from my trip to Solvang last time. On the outskirts of town was a Chevy dealer, and I was hard into Camaros. And he had a new convertible SS on the showroom floor. So I went in, just to look at it. A hopeful salesman spotted my interest right away and came up to me with a salesman's smile. I said I was from Denmark (smile slightly wider) and that I was therefore only looking (smile slightly narrower). But, being a good salesman, he said: "We can ship it anywhere in the world for you, sir". Then I told him about the Danish car taxes (10% customs, 25% vat, 180% (one-hundred-and-eighty) registration tax. So the Camaro SS would cost me around $150k before I could drive it in Denmark. Now the smile was gone, and as he turned his head slightly I think I noticed a tear forming in the corners of his eyes. I'm not sure if it was because he pitied us Danes, or whether he just realized there would be no sale to me, despite my enthusiasm looking at the SS...
