hi all,

what a wonderful summer, i really hope everyone is enjoying it.

not that this is a big deal for the use and enjoyment of the car, but... the bottom inch or inch and a half of the windshield is "fogged".

i thought that perhaps it was a result of a slightly volatile component of the leather stripping away over the years and being deposited on the windshield. well, a wide variety of organic solvents were tried, all to no avail. the same was true for mechanical means of removal, ie. razor blade.

a semi-careful close examination of the "fogging" lead me to conclusion that it is occuring inside the sandwiched glass. i suspect if it inside the glass sandwich, there is no easily feasible solution.

anyone else run across this????

You most likely have moisture seeping up in the plastic laminate layer in the windshield. Now, you may now wonder, if there is enough water sitting there to wick into the glass, what is it doing to the metal?

DO NOT remove windshield unless you are prepared for:

new windshield
new gasket
repair of rusted windshield channel

This is a common Pantera weak link, and fixing it is not cheap.

I have a similar problem.
Some of the lower right-hand corner of the windscreen/shield is a milky white colour.

This covers are quarter circle in the corner of the screen about 3" radius. I can see a sort of puckering in the plastic laminate which makes me believe that the laminations are separating. Water can creep in between two surfaces that are close together by capillary action.

The screen has been replaced and the new screen started doing this within year.

Sorry, I can't post a picture at the moment because I'm 150 miles from the car.
It was purchased by the previous/first owner (Graham Barrs). It is a US spec. screen that incorporates a radio aerial. I think he purchased it from Hall Pantera several years ago.

Graham told me that the screen has started to delaminate after only a year.

It's too late for me to complain about it now.

I can't check the make as the car is in Roger Brotton's workshop at the moment.
