From what I've seen in the last few years, clean the glass absolutely spotless.... and then do it again! Stuff glued to glass depends on a surgically clean surface since there is no roughness to help hold it. I'd follow up the final cleaning with an alcohol wipe-down just before you spread the adhesive, as there's always a monomolecular layer of moisture on any glass surface.

No real advice other than what Jack said, but I did this on my '72 about 6 or 7 years ago, and never ever had one come off.

I don't know what Hall supplies, but you may want to find something to glue to the inside of the window as a cover... seeing the "bottom" of the mirror glued onto the window is sort of ugly... Practical though

He mounted them without glue by making a stainless triangular shaped piece. He's got pictures and a description of how he did it.

If you still decide to glue, talk to your local windshield pro, one of those mirrors flying off at speed would be a mess

FWIW, I don't glue mirrors onto glass. Instead, I made some Lexan side-windows, tinted them to match the windshield, and SCREWED the mirrors on. Dennis Antenucci's side mirror fell on the ground with the car parked near our outside table during dinner a few years ago at Monterey (vendor-applied).

Easy to do.
