THE WIPER MOTOR IS LOCATED IN THE PASSENGER FRONT WHEEL WELL, BEHIND A STEEL SPLASH SHIELD, HELD ON (IF I REMEMBER WELL) BY TWO 10MM NUTS AND A SHEET METAL SCREW. THE PLASTIC ELECTRICAL PLUG IS LOCKED ONTO THE MOTOR WITH A TAB, BUT THIS CAN SOMETIMES BREAK AND WORK LOOSE. BEHIND THE WIPER SWITCH IS A MULTITUDE OF WIRES RUNNING TO IT, POSSIBLY 10, ANY NUMBER OF THESE COULD HAVE BEEN BUMPED OR WORKED LOOSE. I WOULD CHECK THESE CONNECTIONS NEXT. ONE NOTE ABOUT FUSES. THEY CAN "LOOK" O.K., AND NOT BE! I CHECK THEM WITH A CONTINUITY CHECKER. I AM NOW REPLACING MINE WITH THE "MODERN" EUROPEAN FUSES. THEY ARE JUST LIKE THE REGULAR GLASS TUBE IN THE PROPER LENGTH, EXCEPT THE ENDS HAVE A DULL POINT ON THEM TO SEAT PROPERLY IN THE PANTERA FUSE MOUNT. THE CONTACTS NEED TO BE CHECKED CAREFULLY, AS LAST WEEK I LOST ONE HALF OF MY PARKING LIGHTS, (YES HALF ARE ON ONE FUSE AND THE OTHER HALF ARE ON ANOTHER FUSE). THE FUSE CHECKED OUT GOOD, BUT JUST BY TOUCHING/CLEANING, BENDING INWARD OF THE CONTACTS, THE LIGHTS ARE NOW WORKING AGAIN, PERFECTLY! GOOD-LUCK, MARLIN.

Thanks for the help MJ

I will replace all of my fuses too. Where do they sell them, any of the regular parts places?

MG
You might want to contact Bob Timma about his upgraded fuse panel that uses modern plastic type fuses. He converts an older model (mitsubishi I think) fuse block that has 22 circuits instead of 12 and fits in the stock location. It is "plug & play" meaning you remove one wire at a time and plug it into the new unit. He also sells a relay kit for the headlights and fans. Both upgrade kits run $250 His Email address is DDBT@centurytel.net
There is another version available that uses a stock Pantera fuse block and is modified to use plastic fuses made by one of the Pantera vendors. I seem to remember the cost was around $250 plus a pretty steep core charge.
Chuck Melton reviews both with pictures at http://geocities.com/pantera_events/SwapMeet2002_4.html

There was a pretty good discussion of these boxes in an earlier post. Search under "FUSE BOX MODS" If the link to Chuck's page doesn't work from this reply go to the FUSE BOX MODS post and click on it from there.

Good Luck
Gary

I had wipers that were working when I bought the car and then stopped working. After replacing the motor and fuses they still did not work. It was the switch. Not sure of your model year but mine was the 2 speed "turn" switch with a push for fluid. I removed the switch and found that it was not working. pulled it apart and realized that the contacts inside were not touching. 30 years will do that. Bent them back, cleaned it up and added some fresh grease. It works great now. I had to epoxy the plastic back together because after 30 years it was brittle and it cracked as I took it apart. I took my switch to radio shack to test because I'm not much of an electronics expert.

Doug, thanks

I will check the switch.
By the way, I have a 71.
Does anyone know if the switch was interchangable from another car in case I want a new one?
If it is the switch, just do what I did. JUst crack it open, clean it up, and then epoxy it back together. The switch portion is behind the dash so you wont see it. Try that first and if it doesn't work then buy the new one. A couple bucks for epoxy is better than $65 for a new switch. Before you remove the wires, etch where each color wire goes.
