With ALL the UNKNOWNS in buying a "Race Engine", I personally would NEVER buy a mystery "Race Engine"...might as well go to Monte Carlo in Monaco & play roulette...ALL on black!
I have a standard bore sonic tested iron 4 bolt main 351C block with iron closed chambered cylinder heads if you want to start with a known commodity.
Send me a PM if interested.
Thank you ! You are 90 % right and I explained this to my French friend. I also know people who had a brand new engine built by their race motorist, and the engine exploded on the dyno.( that was at Rousch's a couple of years ago!)I bought the dead engine as it, had it fixed with no costs spared, and I finally won an FIA race in Portimao ( Portugal ) beating GT40, Vettes, Porsches, .... but after having had numerous problems due to huge errors made by my own very well known US engine builder !

The point is that race engine fail more than street engines, no matter the budget, no matter the motorist. Look at Formula One where each engine ( EACH ) cost more than TWO MILLION US DOLLARS ...and has a life expectation of 5 races max.
But anyway, thank you for offering !
