Hello Fellow Enthusiasts; In my NEVER ENDING quest to fill a warehouse with a collection of various Sports Cars, I recently went looking for an Opel GT with thoughts of dropping a Olds 215 all aluminum V-8 mated to a Tremec 5 speed & building a dedicated track car.
I answered a craigslist ad & ventured to Vallejo, Ca ( 150 mile round trip) to look at a possible candidate.
I arrived to an old industrial area next to the railroad tracks that would be considered " The WRONG side of town".
I meet the owner of the property & owner of MANY "Projects" a Lou Brero Jr...Lou apologized for his disheveled appearance & Lou freely offered he had spent the night on top of the warehouse with a flashlight & pistol warding off "Potential Thieves", I knew instantly this was going to be INTERESTING!!!..
As we walked through Lou's property there were MANY "projects" ALL in various forms of disassembly, some being quite RARE & valuable like a Fiat 1200 TV Roadster

My Eyes LITE UP!!!...Is this for sale I asked??!!....Lou instantly replied NO!
A few early Triumph MGAs..ALL..."Not for Sale"..
A 1955 Jaguar 120 Roadster appeared..

NOPE!!!..NOT for sale!!!...Lou replied to my inquiry for possible purchase....
So we finally get to the 1973 Opel GT..."1" instant look told me...I had just drove 75 miles for a "Rust Bucket"...I was intrigued by Lou so I looked over the car just to appease him....Then Lou told me...."My father raced for Ferrari back in the 50s"...then Lou proceeded to recall with impeccable memory his father's racing history & the FAMOUS races & racers his father competed with & against.
In the back of my mind I'm thinking...."Yeah SURE!!" ( TOTAL BS!!!).
So Lou & I chat for about another hour ALL the time Lou recounting MAGNIFICENT stories about his father's illustrious racing career in GREAT DETAIL!!!...
As I leave I slip a "Benji" into Lou's very worn & tattered shirt pocket....Merry Christmas Lou, I exclaim...Really a Pleasure talking to you, I'll keep in touch...as I'm getting into my car, Lou tells me to wait & goes inside his dilapidated warehouse & comes out with a business card with his name on it Lou Brero Jr Look my father & myself up on Google when you get home, Lou advises, with that suggestion I wish Lou "WELL" & drive away..
Get home & out of Supreme Curiosity Google "Lou Brero ferrari" & also "Lou Brero Jr"...
To say I was "SHOCKED!!!"...would be a Gross Understatement!!!
Turns out Lou's memory was VERY ACCURATE!!!...Mark
ENJOY the Reading!!!..
