This is on my wish list of things to do. See this thread For Sale: Vader Racing Window Regulators
Can you share with us your issue or why are you were contemplating a change out?

window regulator. Thought I had read somewhere it would be fairly easy to
modify one. Will also need regulator motor.as power to existing produces
no results.

There are motor-only upgrades to the OEM regulator using motors from the Aerostar and Taurus. This replaces the motor and results in a faster moving window.
The only replacement of the motor AND the regulator is the cable driven version taken from 1990s full-size Fords and modified for the Pantera, sold by Vader.
as far as I know the actual regulator mechanism is unique to the Pantera.
The OEM regulator mechanism has a plastic gear that WILL break and leave your window immovable. A solid brass replacement gear is available from the vendors. The same plastic gear is used in your headlight drive mechanism and it also WILL eventually fail. All three should be replaced for peace of mind and safety.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the mech was from a Citroën? Anyway, in reality the mechanism isn't hi tech so you could likely fit a unit from a junkyard with a bit of imaginative bracketry and wiring. Main thing to look for is the interface between the mech and the runner at the bottom of the glass and the distance between these interface sliders and the central pivot of the main levers. With the Pantera it's likely to be more suited to the mech from a rear door of a sedan etc, which is a bonus because these tend to get very little use.
