Hi my name is Michael Menolascino from Chicago Illinois. Pantera International has recently put my 422 CI clevor engine in there spring 2004 issue. You can see all the pictures and details on how i made 758hp and 614 trq from a pair of 1970 4 barrel clevelands. I've put a lot of time and research into this project. If you want to make some great horsepower with your clevelands thats not a prolbem!! If you have any questions feel free to e mail me

Hi Michael,

I'll keep my eye out in the mailbox for my next PI with bated breath! Question - what kind of mileage do you expect to get out of this beast? Is this a motor that will need to be rebuilt after 15,000 miles? 50,000? I'd be curious to read up on the status in a couple of years.

Not saying that this is the case with your engine, but I know of at least one person who has built some killer engines with fantstic power, but these things self destruct practically before they reach the dyno. I imagine a lot of owners are interested in finding the Holy Grail of power AND reliability... I'll be curious to know how yours fares

Thanks!

I pulled my motor a couple of weeks ago to totally rebuild it. I want to keep the Cleveland in, but I'm debating keeping my 4V heads because of the sluggish hole shot. It was basically a stock motor, and I felt that if I wanted to race anyone on the street we would have to start at 70 or 80 mph, which in turn means--why even bother. Any suggestions? I'd be happy with 370-400 horses.
Topcat keep those heads. 400 horse is very easy with those heads. When you rebuild your shortblock you want to aim for 10:5:1 compression. Have the valve job and guides checked in the heads. I highly recommend a Parker 4 V intake and his port inserts. By using the port inserts your making the port smaller creating velocity. Which will bring the power in earlier creating lots of torque and great throttle response. Id say around 500hp on pump gas would be more like it. If you like shoot me an e mail and i can be more descriptive on what to do to the heads. Cinoracing@aol.com
