I'm installing a pedal spacer that pushes the stock master cylinder too far forward (hits the front lid). I've got one of the IPSCO master cylinder adapters and am told there are GM master cylinders that are angled down which will help with clearance. Anyone know a year/make/model or part number for such a master cylinder?

Also does anyone have (or can take) a picture of the front trunk area showing the stock master cylinder and line routing to the proportioning valve? I've searched photos on the web but it seems most cars no longer have the original master cylinders and those that do don't show the lines very clearly. Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

I put a couple washers at the top of and between the pedal box casting and the firewall. It tilted the assembly enough that I got the hood clearance I needed. I also bent the wire reservoir cover clamp for a little extra. I know several others who have done the same. Your results may vary. Use a clay ball and see how much you need to gain.

Hum. My car is a '73, #4066. I have the pedal plate space out 1-1/2" (2 layers of birch plywood) and have Halls "polished aluminum" master cylinder on there. It uses an adapter.
It does not hit the trunk lid at all.

I have not clayed it to see how much clearance there is.

I don't know why mine clears and yours does not? Maybe just the height of the master from the center line up?

IF you change things on these cars to an "update", it isn't a bad idea to deal with someone who is really just a basic hot rodder to boot and understands if you are going to mess with them, make sure that the substitute part works.

Did you contact Kirk Evans on this? He was the one that "completed" those cars as Amerisport to begin with. I'd start with him.

You probably need to call him directly. He is only on here sporadically.
