I've done this, pulled out baffles,welded in angle iron and rewelded, 2 1/2" pipes.
Lost a small amount of torque and gain alot of horse power,ceramic coated black & silver.
Eats Z06 & imports!

I have a Hall big bore system that came on the car. It sounds great, but I have contemplated cutting off at the collector and rewelding on a larger 2 1/2" or even 3" pipe (if it would fit) between the collector and tips. I was told opening up the collectors can be good for up to 30HP as the Hall ones are too restrictive. Would be glad to hear how tight the 2 1/2" fit is between the suspension and if 3" is even possible.

Call me a lazy-ass, but I just sleeved new 3" tips over the old ones (only 1/16 space all around extra) and tack-welded them in place. It looks OK to me, but then I have low standards...

The 2 1/2" pipe is tight, just enouh room to make the bend's and clear the 1/2 shafts with parts having to be dippled, don't think you can get 3" in there.
