We had the opening of our first automated structure in Los Angeles on Thursday, February 21. We probably had about 500 people in attendance during the day with journalists, TV News crews, city officials, politicians, developers, investors, family and friends. Terrific turnout. Below are links to a couple of the new reports and press releases that show the system in action. The first one happens to show my XKR and my Pantera on the shuttle and the lift.

The New York Times ran an article in the Sunday Business Section about automated parking featuring a story and photographs of our system. Although the story seemed to focus on the usage of such systems in very high end housing projects, automated parking really is about much more efficient use of land as well as relieving parking challenged projects. But, publicity is publicity.
The Travel Channel filmed for 8 hours, yesterday, in our parking structure for a three part series called "Extreme Parking." It will air at the end of May, and they will send me the links to the episode when the dates are finalized. (And apparently there is quite a bit of footage of my Pantera) The publicity since the opening a couple of weeks ago has been incredible. Next up, Fortune Magazine is coming to do a photo shoot for a story they are doing about us in an upcoming issue. Stay tuned.

Fabulous system. Great camera work on the first vids. Who is your publicist, or 'how' did you get the publicity wave going?
Well, it's been a couple of months since the last post after the Grand Opening of our first automated parking structure, so I thought I'd update. We have signed our first contract to build a commercial structure at an existing shopping/office center in Los Angeles. It will have 205 subterranean stalls at a cost of about
$4.5 million. We are also in design discussions with a request for proposal and followed by a full presentation at corporate headquarters for a 5600 stall system (about $110 million project). We're not allowing ourselves to dream about this project's possibilities and its effect on our investment yet, but they've pursued us not vice versa. We expect several other more modest projects to have signed contracts by the end of the summer, so the real possibility of us not having to use our personal savings to fund this 4 year old venture for the first time is getting closer to reality. Thank goodness!

The bulk of that show, which I just saw about an hour ago was about our system in Sherman Oaks. And that was my Pantera, my XKR, and my 280Z sprinkled in and amongst the Audi R8, the Hummer, etc. Christopher Alan, our president and my partner in a number of ventures (adventures) was the person in the interviews. Hopefully, we'll see lots of these systems in the future.
Dear Mikael,
I laughed when reading your post, because it will first take millions of dollars of profit, just to get us back to even. I often scratch my head wondering why I just didn't live my life without stress, without wondering how the next month's expenses are going to be met, just making a comfortable living instead of pumping every available dollar into this venture for the past 4 years. Boy, I hope this actually pays off someday.
And by the way, don't think that during many months that had extremely high expenses where I didn't know how I would make my cash call, that I didn't think about selling the Pantera. But each time I thought about it, I realized it would only buy me about a month's worth of relief, and I'd be back in the same boat the next month. So, if that was the case, I might as well keep the old cat.
