I'm trying to bleed the cooling system as suggested by a bunch of you guys. According to the Pantera blue owners manual, there are two vents on the top of the radiator that need to be opened to purge the air. I see something that could be a vent but I'm scared to try to turn it. I don't see anything else on the top or sides of the radiator that remotely looks like a vent. Anyone have any thoughts?

[ the rear of the car should be jack up at least six- eight inches when filling the radiator and cooling system. That coupled with letting your car warm enough to cycle the coolent a few times,& bleeding the radiator,the bleed valve on my stock rad. was well hidden under the lower ret tube
I have also discovered drilling a small hole in the thermost,helps air to escape.
Possibly the simplest way to bleed air from the Pantera is to use Lisle's # 22150 fill-funnel, which attaches directly to the surge tank with a custom cap-adapter. Fill funnel & start engine; as the thermostat opens, the extra water in the funnel will disappear into the engine & the air bleeds out automatically. This tool was reviewed in POCA newsletter last year, then verified by another member in a later issue. Cost-$22 retail. FYI, 2 yrs ago I bled the cooling system in my Pantera in the conventional way, then drove it 550 miles to 'Vegas, with speeds reaching 145 mph held for over ten (10) minutes, After cooling the engine, I bled a little more air out.... This is NOT an easy task the old way!

I thougt the speed limit in your country was 55 MPH ?

Actually, the speed limit in Iowa is 65 mph not 55 mph. This is somewhat misleading, since I-80 is the only paved surface in the state. Fortunately, Iowa has only two police officers who spend most of the driving season in the fields. Their chase cars are manufactured by John Deere. The standard model isn't much of a threat but the terminal speed of the turbo diesel equipped squad occassionally suprises us when it's not mired with farm implements.
