Well, maybe I will be able to actually drive my car one day. I have a 72 (keep having to replace every part on the car) and the car starts up and runs great until the motor gets warmed up..then it runs like shit. At higher speeds (on the ighway) it smooths out until you slow down like when you are going light-to-light in town. Almost looks like the fuel is boiling? Do I need a spacer plate for the carb? If I do this the carb will sit to high to put the stock mesh cover over it properly.? Any ideas?

"Runs like shit" covers a lot of posibilities. Before going to the trouble of adding a carb spacer why not locate the cause of the problem first. If it is running rich it could be due to a leaking float valve, an aftermarket fuel pump that's delivering too much pressure, leaking power valve, dirty air filter, sticking choke........

If it's running lean check for an obstructed fuel filter, inoperable power valve, failing fuel pump, dirt in the carb.......

A failing ignition coil can also cause the symoptoms you described. Good luck...Al English
I have basically a stock motor with rebuilt heads and aluminum intake and 600cfm holley with aftermarket headers. No trick mods at all. I think maybe it is getting hot because only one fan is running right now and no thermostat installed! (and of course I need to move the sensor to the block to get an accurate reading.
