In tearing down the rear suspension I found that the coil over shock on the right hand side did not have the Aluminum spacer and the left hand side had the Aluminum spacer. Is there a possible reason for this? The car was used for track racing in the past could this be the reason?
My first posting did not make sense sorry.

Must have been used for "weight Jacking" the suspension, biased in one direction only as in circle track racing. Or to offset engine torque as in drag racing. OR maybe someone simply FORGOT to put one in, or take one out! Or was trying to level a bent chassis. Measure from the ground to certain points on the chassis at all four corners. Only the ruler knows for sure. Good-Luck, Marlin. #5723

I'm also curious whether your "coil-overs" are stock or aftermarket? Stock could be Ariston or Telecar (blue w/yellow sticker), and US Ford-controlled imports would have had spacers for DOT compliance. Konis weren't stock but many cars had them on as far back as '73, some with the spacers included. They are orange. All others are later additions. Any spacer will raise that part of the car approx. 2X the spacer thickness.
