I paint other peoples car the color they want. For long lasting easy matching, I am sticking with my original red enamel, no clear, no flake. Those hot hues and flake are cool until you try to match paint and blend in a panel. white is wonderful. I guess if you don't ever drive the car tang. would llok great at the show..............but if you drive you will have to maintain that sucker, nothing looks worse than a three stage pearl that ain't exactly correct. Good luck. PS My favorite white to paint is Chrylser G7.....For some reason it always flows slick!
Mark,

Everyones advice above is right on the money, normally I would suggest stay with the original color too, because if you ever sell it, that may be important to the next owner.

But, let me be the social philosopher that I am Wink. When you bought the car, was your intention to change the color in the future? In other words, do you dislike white? Or do you have a strong preference for another color other than white? How long do you forsee owning your Pantera?

If its a keeper & you really don't like white, if there's another color you've seen on another Pantera that really turns you head, maybe you should go with your gut. It doesn't make sense to plan to own a car for a long time that is a color you really don't like. You'd kick your self in the future & wish you had painted it X color when you had the opportunity.

There's no rush, think about it for a while & get comfortable with your decision.

I agree w/ brother George, go with what makes you happy. I had toyed briefly with a chameleon color like the Cobra and then decided on yellow as it was going to the paint shop. My wife kept after me to keep it some shade of red. I finally spent about 3 hours at the paint shop looking for the brightest red I could find. Settled on lamborghini Diablo Rosso (Devil's Red). I was really glad I went with red instead of yellow except when you go to car shows and there are 10 or 12 panteras and 7 are red. That's why I went with the stripes

I bought the car, and would still be driving it, if I wasn't so "retentif" as my lady puts it. I'm not so concerned about $ as others might be ( I happen to own the shop doing the paint work) I just don't want to do a disservice to a nice original car. I'm leaning toward the PPG color though.
Thanks for the input.

I'm an old guy, I vote for the original color. But be true to your heart.

I'd also like to give you a good reason for keeping it the original white. White is the easiest color to maintain. It hides any imperfections, waves (check out your hood), door dings, etc. Any darker color magnifies those problems. Furthermore, white is one of the best colors for touching it up should it need it. Same goes if you should have any body work done, matching white is a lot easier than darker or any metalic colors.

I also second the comment not to go with a pearlescent white. Almost impossible and very expensive to match paint for touching up or body work repaints.

Personally, white is about the only original Pantera color that doesn't do the car justice. But, if you happen to like it then keep it.

Keeping in mind Panteras aren't that "rare", I never buy into the argument to keep the car original for resale or for the next owner. Now if it was a Mangusta, Vallelunga, or Deauville..then definitely keep it original.

Just do what makes you happy. It's your car! Smiler

Interesting you say that. Just recently I counted over ten Panteras on e-bay!

Now, wouldn't it be something to see ten Mangustas on e-bay! Smiler
Hey Gary, I remember that long running debate, didn't you guys decide that red is for sissy's and white is for manly men...? Razzer

George, those of us in the Southeast Panteras have a running debate on that issue. There is some shade of red (the true color of sports cars)and then there is everything else.

HMM, that depends on weather it is iluminated or pigmented. Adding all colors of light will to a light source will iluminate all colors giving you pure light. Adding pigment will do the oposite.

OK I was saving this ..check out the Honda black metallic. There are several more besides, one is calle black sunrise. The thing I like about a metallic black, the color looks black until you get righ up on it, then instead of seeing imperfection, you get the flake in the face. It can be done base clear too. I hate to tell that white in spanish is blanko, meaning no color at all.

Not to be critical of black but any of the metallic paints are hard to touch up or match should you need to in the future. Furthermore, the dark color shows every scratch ding and dent more than a light color. So unless your hood is really flat, And I mean reaaallly flat, I'd stick with the original color! %^))
