the fact that it is going to be much warmer
While it may well be true the drive there will be in warmer times, Reno as a destination is historically cooler in mid June than LV is in late April/early May. (Thanks to the web and historical weather collections.)
I know my Pantera does just fine at highway speeds, and only starts the creeping temp increases when stuck in city traffic.
And I still believe that one of our temp problems is the fact we DO have a temp gauge. We are so used to just idiot gauges that when we see real-world temperatures, it gets the the old nervous-nellie reaction going.
A 50/50 antifreeze mix raises the boiling temp to 265. With good hoses, tight clamps and working fans, even if the water temp does rise to 220 or more, your Pantera is not going to explode in a geyser of steam and scalding fluid.
