So I am growing tired of my oval air cleaner. I never really liked it in the first placee. My car has the engine compartment painted grabber blue and I'm running 180's with a four barrel carb. I would like to design / install a rear facing scoop sort of what they use on the blown dragsters but rear facing. This is just an idea. I am looking for input. Picts would be helpful. I remember seeing a member installed a forward facing scoop in the roof. Looks cool but too much for my car. What do you guys think?

Here is what I am using on my Pantera. It is a Spectre air box with an offset base. It clears the rear deck and the side air scoops work. I just ran a data log on the ECU and the inlet air temperature is almost the same as ambient.

JFFR - Would you post the part number for the Spectre air box that you are using? I have a lower manifold, the Blue Thunder. Based on your experience with their parts, which model would you recommend. I am building the same configuration as yours with 4" intakes. In hindsight, would you have considered the customizable solution the offer to more precisely aim the snorkels? Thanks

Can we see a picture of the intakes from the outside of the car?

If you go to the Spectre website, they have a listing of all of their parts. My air box is a 14" 120 degree unit. The base is also a Spectre 1 1/4" offset. I haven't had time to remove the snorkels and point them up. It would make attaching the hoses a lot easier and make the set up look cleaner.
Great job Stenmark! Do you have a CAD file for your intake manifold? I'm planning to make my own intake for a custom EFI system and I'm looking for a CAD file for the intake manifold valley plate and intake flanges - it would be nice to have them laser cut rather than doing a lot of hand fabrication.

Thanks!
Garth
