Designed some custom fixed headlights around 4 HID lamps. Everything is from scratch and I molded the lenses to match the curvature of the fenders. Still needs some minor clean up, paint (blacked out), new lenses (I scratched these all up during the build), oh yeah and install the halos Smiler Lenses will be bonded on once the bucket is painted, bucket is fully sealed with gortek patch to let any collected moisture out, but not in.

Was actually much more painful then I would have thought since I went for removable buckets which fit without causing too many mods to the basic headlights mechanism and brackets. No changes at all the fender. Needed to remove the bar and bucket brackets obviously, passenger side just needed some minor trimming and driver needed trimming and a hammer for clearance, but can go back to pop ups if I want in the future.

Took a lot of time to get the light spread correct, but I'm quite happy with it now. My inverter can only ignite a single bulb and its like a flipping collapsed sun compared to all the other pantera headlights I've seen. So considering I'm going to be running 4x that amount of light output I'm quite happy.

Happy with the look, I think smoked lenses will look great on it. On to other other things now

Thanks all.

To answer some questions: Buckets are steel, just the easiest/quickest thing for me to work with. Not sure what I'm going to use to bond the lenses on. I need to run some tests, but I'm guessing windshield adhesive will be a good candidate. Sorry no build thread, but appreciate the comments.

Regarding kitting, this would be hard. There are 3 different headlight fender opening sizes on panteras, and then everyone was hand built on top of that so variation is a factor, so I think a builder style kit would be what I would end up with. It would also be expensive. All the light based equipment alone is about 550 bucks, then add lenses, brackets, the buckets, etc. So probably 1K+ for a builder style kit.

If there is serious interest, I can look into it.
Here in California the headlamps MUST be a minimum of 22 inches from the ground.

VEHICLE CODE
SECTION 24400-24411

24400. (a) A motor vehicle, other than a motorcycle, shall
be equipped with at least two headlamps, with at least one on
each side of the front of the vehicle, and, except as to vehicles
registered prior to January 1, 1930, they shall be located directly
above or in advance of the front axle of the vehicle. The headlamps
and every light source in any headlamp unit shall be located at a
height of not more than 54 inches nor less than 22 inches.

What is the height measurement from the ground to the headlamps?
Michael,

Added the only photo I have of the buckets Illuminated to the gallery. Satin paint on the bucket as planned with help with the light refracted (right now its bare metal), as will the lense eyebrows I plan to paint on (think RX-7 Sleek headlight look: http://www.evo-r.net/product/RX-7/90MMSLEEK/index.htm )

Speed,

As measured on my car (Front and rear Lower A-Arms parallel to ground and running 295-30/18s up front) the bulbs center line is about 23.5-24" from the ground, so even the bottom of the bulb meets that cali reg.

THANKS!!!!...for the measurement!...

I appreciate you are willingness to IMPROVE upon the original design!!!.

Just because it came "From the factory"...does NOT in my opinion mean the original design cannot be improved upon!.

I applaud your design & fabrication skills....amongst ALL of us, there is ...A drastically improved design just waiting to be realized!
