Detomaso 50th Anniversary
May 19-24, 2009
Many of you were considering joining us for this Pantera event in Modena and asked to be kept up to date. After much review, our plans are now getting firm. Carmen, David, Mark and Will are confirmed - three of us with our cars. We will be joining lots of American and European Detomaso clubs and Pantera owners for this once-in-a-lifetime-experience and an exciting week or so in Italy. Here are the details:
TRANSPORTATION
Carmen has a big operation just outside of Montreal. If you've seen our Team Pantera Canada Trailer you will know his attention to quality, durability and functionality. Carmen owns several containers. We are going to outfit these to carry our Panteras safely and efficiently. Four cars will fit comfortably in each container. We have three cars booked and room for one more in the first container. If many of you are interested we will prepare more containers. The container will leave Montreal by ship to Milan. Carmen's cousin, who has a trucking company in Milan, will pick up the container and bring it to his secure warehouse. We will open the container and take out our cars after we arrive in Milan.
COSTS
The return trip, including outfitting the container, customs, shipping and local transportation will cost approx $5,000 each way, for a total return trip cost of CDN$10,000. Divided by 4 cars that is approx CDN$2,500 each.
TIMING
Allow 21 days after loading your car in Montreal until it's ready to unload in Milan. Same thing coming back. If you look at the schedule below, it means if you are shipping your car it will leave approx 3rd week of April and return approx 3rd week of June.
PLANS
We have lots of local friends and family with expertise in Italian travel, wine tours and activities, so expect a great time enjoying the best of Italy. We are planning to take our time and eat, shop and drink our way across the Tuscan countryside. For the Detomaso Event, the activities listed below are already on the schedule. We will choose the best from these as we firm up our travel plans, which will likely add a few days either before or after these festivities.
