Door Armrest Bung Question (aka arm rest trim plug) | The De Tomaso Forums

So my car did not have the door armrest bungs (3 per side)and it drove me crazy looking very unfinished. I bought the plastic bungs @$6/bug and went to install last night but the holes were smaller than the diameter of the bungs.....do i force them into th hole? My fear is that there is only soft styrofoam behind the vinyl and it will look even worse. Figured i would ask he experts first. 4072 is a 73 built in 72. Thanks

The early cars used a different size (bigger I believe). Don't know which size you bought.

Husker is right- there were two sizes. Several of the vendors stock both sizes- the seller should have asked you which ones you needed. FWIW, the armrests are wood-framed, wrapped with foam and vinyl. You could tear the soft stuff by forcing.

your car is a 72 and requires the smaller rubber ones. 73-74 required the larger plastic ones...
