I took Emma on her first ride in the "noisy" car yesterday. She's 1 1/2 and seemed to have fun. I think she likes being in the front seat more than the back seat. This morning when we went into the garage, she was pointing at the Pantera and grunting. She started fussing when I went to put her in the backseat of the Mazda. I really think she likes the noisy red car better.....just like her daddy!

John,

I enjoy and apreciate human interest stories like that. I would be interested in a large size, high quality pic or two of your daughter & the Pantera (and daddy too) as well as a similar short story about your daughter & the car.

I think Emma and daddy are both lucky.

keep up the good work dad, and thanks again for sharing Emma with us.

my kids and grandkids, were all just as comfortable in the garage as in the house, they got to drive/steer from dads/grandpa's lap as soon as they could see over the steering wheel and shift as soon as they could reach the shifter.my favorite was my granddaughter that lived with me,we had many a good time together in the garage and on the road with the car,the car was to be her's,but things don't always go as you plan,so the car was given to her mother, this past x-mas in memory of brooke.one time my x who we got along better devorced, let me store my car in her garage,a couple of weeks later i went over there, and in the church parking lot i could see all these long burn outs,i call one of the kids over and asked who did that?oh!mom and cari, just wish i'd a been there for the fun.les
Johnny,
I had an old 429SCJ Fairlane Cobra that I used to take my daughter Kimberly out in when she was 1 1/2 to 2 years old. Yes, the sound of the motor would put her out in quick time, too. When we drove, she was my 'sanity' so I didn't do anything stupid.
My fondest memory of those times was when I had to downshift and open it up in order to safely pass a car on a backroad. Yes, it made quite a healthy roar.
Several miles later, She says, 'Daddy?'. I replied, 'Yes, Sweetheart!'. 'Do that again, Daddy!', she says, jerking her little arm like she was downshifting, 'Make it go VAROOOM!'.
Well, she's twenty years old now and STILL loves the sound of a V-8. From one father to another, you're training your little girl correctly. I ought to know, my own daughter is the proof of it.....
I have twin Daughters that turned four this week and a son who will be three in October. Whenever I come home from work, I leave the Pantera in the driveway. I go in and get them and then they all pile into the passenger seat to help put the car into the garage. First we go up and down the driveway a few times (I have a VERY long driveway). They each get to take turns putting it into reverse and first (they like the gated shift in the Pantera better than the Vette). One daughter, Marigold, especially likes it when I make it go "fast".

One day, when I was showing it off to some of my wife's work acquaintances (I was reving the engine in the garage since it was raining out), Marigold told me to make it "really loud" for them. I obliged her only to see the color drain from her face as she turned around and ran into the house. She came back a couple of minutes later and I apologized for scaring her. She said she wasn't scared, it just made her "tinkle in my undies."
Precious posts, all. What a bunch of softies we Pantera owners are.

My littliest girl used to call it the "noisy" car, then the "pantyhose" car and now she helps me in the garage. Her little hands are great for those hard to reach places - especially under the dash. She's my perfect brake and clutch bleeding partner. When we go for drives she loves to pick up her friends, and once they climb inside she whispers in my ear "...kick it, dad!"
Very cool John.
Is that the look of My Turn To Drive Now Dad ?
