I don't really know what it weighs. The fly wheel is aluminum and so is the oil pan. The bare block is just a little over 100 pounds. I am hoping for a target weight on the Pantera to be about 2950 pounds. When it is all assembled, I plan on weighing the car.
Ron, several of us have Fontanas in various stages. A good performing 450-550 horse Fontana can be built to weigh below 400 lbs complete & ready to run. You have to choose your parts carefully, but in 410-class sprint cars (where many of these engines wound up late'80s thru 2008), they routinely put out 850bhp and up all season long between rebuilds. Keep looking- they come in .060-over or .125-over bores with either Windsor or Cleveland deck heights and can go to 455. Nice thing about aluminum blocks: you can resleeve them or blow the side out and it's still fixable!
