Front Spindles

I've started my winter project of rebuilding the front suspension, R&R wheels bearings, and whatever else I may discover when I stick my head in the front wheel wells of the beast. During dissassembly, I found that the driver's side spindle & crimp-style nut are righthand thread and the passenger side lefthand thread; I expected to find the opposite. Is what I found the correct configuration? Please advise.
