I have the opportunity to purchase a wrecked 72 Pre-L. It is currently in storage. One of the front tires is off of the rim. I want to put a temporary wheel and tire on there in order to move it out of the storage area and onto the trailer. Would a wheel and tire from a taurus or explorer work? I'm planning on getting one at a junkyard before I go get the wreck. What should I look for?

John any 5 bolt Mustang wheel will bolt straight on.

I'm certain the Taurus is a different bolt pattern (metric), I have no clue about the Explorer.

5-bolt wheels for Toyota (and poss. Nissan) trucks also fit.

Taurus...NO! We had an SHO and aftermarket wheel fitment circa 1989 was tough then and I am sure not any easier now.

2000ish mustang is the way to go. Same bolt pattern and more or less same back spacing.
