Congratulations on your purchase Dan!

By "8000 real gts" do you mean the chassis number is in the 8000 range? If so would you mind sharing the entire 4 digit chassis number? I am currently aware of only three cars with numbers in that range, #8471, #8472 & #8660.

Thanks

that sounds more like it. the hood and decklid were not a mat finish. they were a metallic black finish. interested to know what the market is in ohio for a low mileage GTS??

My car is like a metallic black, super dark gray, it just doesn't look rite, I thought sure they were mat black, are you sure there not?

As King says, original factory finish is metallic black.

Sure there are flat black cars but it would appear previous owners had the same felling about the color and repainted them flat, semi-gloss and I've even seen gloss black.

It's your car. Do what you want to it. Flat black is not easy to maintain on these cars. It looks faded out and splotchy on them soon after they get painted.

You might want to try the Ford flat black paint that was used on the '69 Boss 302's. That SEEMS to hold up a little better but remember that the original concept of the black on the hoods and decklids was for racing reasons and to reduce the amount of glare that the driver needed to deal with in a race.

Cosmetics were not a consideration at all in racing. Function is.

Detomaso actually realized all of this and made a decision of modifying the color for a "competition look" on a street car.
