Hella Horn Install

I have never been fond of the sound of the stock horn on my Pantera. The sound reminds me of a Lincoln Towncar or something.

I ended up purchasing some hi/low Hella Air horns to replace them. Below are the pics of the mount I built for them. I designed the mount to utilize the OEM mounting holes under the front passenger fnder. I like the way it turned out and I think they sound great.

Very nice.

Perhaps a bit overboard for something that will never be seen.

But I, and most of us I imagine, are guilty of the same on our cars.

One time at a car show I ran across a guy with an old Pick Up that has installed a Train Horn. When he blew that everyone within a hundred yards jumped.

Nice install. My issue with air horns is that they used to take a second to spool up. In real emergencies that are unfolding in the blink of the eye, that can be to long. However, I realize that many moons have passed since I tried them in the 80s and technology has probably improved.

I too was a little concerned with actuation time of the horn due to issues I had seen years ago. However, the actual actuation time on these Hellas is instantaneous when I hit the button.

I put an air horn in the MGB. I figured the smaller cars should have bigger horns:

When I pulled the air horns out of the Pantera, I could not put them back because that was where I put the power steering pump. So I put the new horns tucked up under the left wheel well:

I searched for metal horns at the right tones for the low and high Hz.

Ended up having to get the plastic Hellas to get what I wanted, 795Hz& a 845Hz. What brand and Hz are yours?
