The thread linked below made me think of the attached article...

Real Wheel Bearing Has Play...

Again - this is posted as a Public Service, and a bit of PI history, not as an endorsement.

Apparently Rich Hairston was a real renaissance man as well - technically trained, and a Pantera-enthusiast from early -1973.

This is an article by Fred Matsumoto of Mind-Train on the care, feeding, and installation of Wheel Bearings. I haven't seen much material that is very different than this article, which was written in '78, with the exception of the discussions on tapered wheel bearings.

You will have to find that on your own!

Note this is Pantera International copyrighted material.

It is taken from the PI Magazine, dated Winter, 1978.

Thanks to George Pence for making this available!

Hey JFB -

Unfortunately I don't have time to scan them all. That would be just too much. I have been posting up stuff that I find interesting, and when there is a confluence with regard to the articles I'm reading, and interesting questions on the board, I'll make a special effort to post up the articles.

Watch for more stuff on ZF transaxle so, and on Hugh Kleinpeter's group 5 Pantera.

Rocky,

Thank you for providing this "Public Service".

It's always interesting to me to hear about some of the early efforts to maintain, improve and/or race the Pantera.

I'd love to see what other stuff you have on Hugh's racing adventures.

FYI, I've spoken with Vic Manuelli who ran this car after Hugh, and I've seen the car after the fire where it was stored. It's an interesting history. Some of what I know I've added to my website here: http://www.gr5pantera.com/gr-5-panteras

Looking forward to learning more.
