6.25" Backspacing would be best based on my experience for the 10.5" wheel. The 6.9" would place the tire in the wheel well a little more than I would like. In addition anything more than 6.5" backspacing on a 17" wheel will start hitting the nut on the lower A arm holding the upright. However this may not be a problem with an 18" wheel
Your answer is maybe! with a 1/2" to 3/4" spacer yes just need longer wheeel studs
Mark your rims are looking like a better deal ever time I try this. I wish the pantera aftermarket was a little more "free market" but I've already covered this. Would 315s be enough tire for the halls?
Lets try that pic again. i needed a 3/32 spacer to clear the lower upright shaft (the nuts were too close). Otherwise 17X9 fronts and 17X10.5 rears fit no problem.
Thanks Rover. Did you have to install new wheel studs on front or back? the 17x9s fit the front without rubbing on a narrow body car? Are your fenders rolled up front? Ryan
The front need the lip rolled a little for extra security. On the inside, the windshield drain tube need to be flattened a little. Otherwise no changes.
With a 3/32 wheel spacer on the rear, longer studs were not required. I would bet with the 18" rims you would not need a spacer at all. The extra dia will allow for the shaft to clear.
me too I'm not going with cobra Rs rather the 03 cobras because they are more angular than the cobra r's that are already on my 98 cobra. in a black chrome that fits my color scheme better. Rover/et al are there instructions to affix the foil detom labels to the center caps that coem with these rims? if not SVT would look fine to me. are you running the 285s or nitto/sumitomo 315s in the back? only thing that would suck about 18s is that there are no low cost 315s available like there are in 17 for the mustang drag racing crowd. Lastly id those cobra r's work then the FR500 replicas would also work being the same backspacing and those rims look HOT. Thanks for the replys.
The center caps are easy to modify. Sand the cobra caps down using a belt sander. Using 5min epoxy bond the detom logos to the caps. The detom diameter is perfect. I sanded the cobra cap down so that the glued on logo sits flush.
