Ignition and distrubutor

I am not sure what distributor it is, but it looks like a ford with a special aftermarket amplifier. You should be able to add the Ford magnetic trigger from a more modern Ford distributor with little problem. It should even be compatible with the controller you are using or you could use another aftermarket ignition amplifier.

Thats some kind of aftermarket stuff .. if you want I can take a pic of the std ford module and box and get you part #'s you should be able to buy it on line. I have no idea what module and box that is ?? its a ford distributor .. and its missing the vacumn advance ?? you need to replace all three.

What year is your car? What color is the engine block?

That may be the Bosch distributor from an Australian Cleveland (I've never seen one). If so, oem repair parts will be available from Australia.

In fact, if that is a Bosch distributor, an american distributor will not fit, because the distributor shaft guide hole inside the block is smaller than the guide hole in an american block.

The white piece inside the distributor is an "inductive pick-up", the metal box (silver, blue?) is a "module".

If those are indeed Austrailian parts, I would buy a rebuilt distributor from Australia & a replacement module, drop them in, set the timing, and you're good to go. Don't neglect to replace the coil while you are at it.

If you look close at the side, you can make out the word Motorcraft. You will also notice in the top left the hole and two mounting screws for the vacuume advance. I belive that this is a modified Ford unit.

If you can accurately measure the diameter of the shaft the distributor gear is pressed over, that is another way to determine if that is a distributor from an Australian 351C.

If the engine block is black from the factory, that also indicates its an Australian sourced 351C.

Dave, I've seen the guts of the Bosch dizzy before (20 years ago), and for some reason I've got this buzzer going off inside my aged brain saying thats the Bosch guts. I can't say with certainty however. I also can't say if the Bosch dizzy used a Motorcraft housing. I agree with you that does look like the Motorcraft housing. I don't care if I'm right or wrong, just want to save Pantera74 some misery & confusion. The one part that does not interchange between US & late model Aussie Clevelands is the distributor.

The distributor is a motorcraft one with the part number D2ZF-12127-FA. There is ntohing mentioned on the module.
My Pantera is a 74's model, in fact it went out of the factory in december 1973.
The engine is a blue one. It seems to be the original colour.
AcCobra, i take off the vacumn advance for the picture.
For all of you these parts are aftermarket ones ?
Do you have a picture of the original ?
Can i replace original parts ? If yes, where can i buy them ?
