Unless you are moving over to EFI and that is the reason for an in-tank pump, I can see no good reason to put your fuel pump in a tank that cannot be removed unless you pull the engine.

A stock mechanical pump is sufficient for most Clevelands or other Ford v-8's, and a high pressure electric can be mounted outside as well.

What is your motivation for this change?

In fact, I have already switched to EFI. I'm just not happy with the location of my fuel pump and was merely looking for alternatives. Coincidentally, Jack DeRyke has written an article that will appear in the August POCA newsletter, that describes the installation of an in-tank pump (without removing the engine and fuel tank).
