I have had clients who have been the victims of hit-and-runs. When the clients bring me a license plate number and I prepare a lawsuit, DMV (in New Mexico) will provide the owner's info, but DMV collects the info of the person who was hit and that of the inquiring party (me, the attorney). So, don't be too paranoid, accountability has been built into the system, and if someone is acting like they have "info" on you, then they can easily be tracked back to the source. Rest assured, we don't know who you are, but your name has been credited on a calendar as the proud owner of a couple of Hot Panteras, Jan. No worries mate, my name is in the phone book in Albuquerque, and is exactly as it is on this post. Ronald C. Norman, and anyone could look me up in long distance info and hassle me, but it doesn't happen. They know better, there are stalking and telephone harrassment laws, and when it happens across state lines, it falls into the jurisdiction of the FBI and the Federal Courts, and no one wants a visit from those guys, or have to appear in one of those Courts. They have money to inforce the Federal Laws, as opposed to the State Laws. No worries. Nice to know you, Jan. /s/ Ron
Did you ever wonder if it's the same guy(?) posting under all these different unregistered names just to stir up the pot? I used to hear this a lot growing up... "If you can't say something nice, then don't say anything." I find the info on this BB to be helpfull on occasion and entertaining in general but the tit-for-tat gets a little old after a while... (and no I can't spell)
Ron & Doug, you are correct, that is my point. Some owners pay for personalized plates, and then later hide them in photos (where's the logic there?). So I guess I still don't get the point. I know the DMV here in CA will not give out info to a caller, such as an address (maybe to an attorney though through an accident claim like Ron says). However, maybe "underground" sources have a means of tracking a plate to find the owner info and address, etc., as we know the criminal element can do almost anything...many are pretty street smart, getting rich doing other things rather than a 40 hour work week.

No big deal, I guess I was just curious.
Low self esteem and unregistered name is the prime example of a coward.

Ron Norman .... thanks for the info .. I wondered the same about license plates .. and some time better to be safe then sorry.

You know there are these blood suckers on the computer just waiting to get your personal info and cause havok on you.

Oh Ron nice name you must be great lawyer.

Thanks,

Ron
