Numbers matching??

there "should" be an ID tag in the front boot, atop the foot box (between the power brake booster & firewall) that lists the engine & trans numbers. I say should because mine was missing when I purchased the car.

The numbers are found on the trans & engine in the locations pointed out in the pictures below.

Thanks, so the number on the tag may differ from the VIN? Sorry, I'm not fluent in Panteras. So there's a VIN, then there's a number on that tag that should match the motor and trans..... ??

The VIN for your Pantera "should" be stamped into the chassis in the boot atop the footbox, the ID tag will sit over this stamped number, with a window in the ID tag that allows you to view the VIN below. Besides the VIN number visible through the tags window, the engine & trans numbers will be stamped on the tag itself.

Below is a picture of the VIN number stamped into my chassis, where the ID tag should be located.

I'm looking at a picture of a car that has a 'Vehicle Emission Contol' tag screwed to the car showing idle speed, timing specs, etc. Above it is a small tag that aparently has a serial number, should that number match the engine/trans? .

OK, so the number stamped on the motor should match the number on the small tag that is above the Vehicle Emissions data tag, correct?
