I wanted to ask this and not side track another post. Is there a way to know if I have original valves and how can I tell what kind of heads I have with out taking them off? I have a 72 so I am assuming that that valves and heads are the original low compression versions. Would that make them open chamber? I'm getting ready to take the engine and trans out so I can fix the gas tank. Lots of questions right out of the gate. Thanks ahead of time for your time and response.

there's a date code under the valve cover that can 99% tell you what the heads are using the 4V Cylinder Head Repository 'by date'

you can also use a boroscope through a spark plug hole to see if the intake valves have the Ford oval logo on them. a 1972 would've come from the factory with open chamber heads but unless you bought it yourself new there's no telling what might be on there now
