Hi guys anyone have any info or know this car.Claims to be 1972 gts # 3914 checked with Chuck Melton and he had nothing.Any help very much appreciated. Thanks Bob
Assuming the car actually IS a '72 GTS', that means it would have been first sold in Europe, so it would be outside the Ford records but not DeTomaso's records at the Modena factor. You could check this by contacting Santiago DeTomaso in Modena, Italy and giving him the serial number (and your credit card number. This is not a free service). If it truely is a Euro car, he will have all the records. FWIW, all narrow-body Panteras sold in Europe 1971 through about 1987 were called 'GTS'. In the U.S, only about 150 cars sold 1973-74 with a special U.S decal package were titled 'GTS'. Those cars had 'gts' in the stamped serial number in the frt trunk & on the dash tag, but none were built in 1972. Note also that fake U.S GTS's abound but not with authentic stamps.
