New member and new owner of 4977 for about a month now. If anyone can give info on this car I would really apprieciate it.

I have been repairing items that needed immediate attention and safety issues and plan on getting to the 'would like to' items soon. Actually, I wouldn't care if the car had 200 previous owners, she is MINE NOWand I plan on keeping her for a while. I have not worked on one of these since being a line mechanic (in another life) back in '75 and these forums have been VERY informative and helpful, especially the pics.

So how does one get to, search and/or add a car to these registries I hear about? Any one in particular that caters to my year car?

No spell check eh? Sorry if I rambled a bit.

Thanks,

Angelo

Congrats Angelo! And welcome to this board. But where are the pics? We need to see pics of your car.

As far as registries go, there are a few...

Chuck Melton's Prova MO Registry:
http://www.provamo.com/login.asp?Redirect=/Members/Regi...ProvaMoRegistry.asp?
You need to "register" as a user to even look at the registry, and then it's of questionable value anyway because there is no browse capability, no history and only the basic info about the car.

The QV500 DeTomaso Registry:
http://www.qv500.com/detomasoregistry.php
This is a very nice registry with the ability to browse by vehicle type with pics. Also lists varying degrees of history.

FWIW, your car is not listed in either registry, but you can add it by contacting the owners.
KEWL! must be a REAL close relative, I picked mine up in Miamisburg, Ohio! Part of an estate sale thru Ebay. Selor stated it was an origional California car amonst other things. I was not the winning bidder, Got it second chance offer, just meant to be I guess. I have the item number at home and will post or just take pics this weekend and just post them. The widow was afraid of the car, I just hope when I go, my cars go to someone that will apprieciate and enjoy them as much as I do and not to just flip them for profit. Mu transaction story is a bit interesting and will relate when I have a bit more time, hint, I did drive it home to Palm Beach county Florida sight unseen.

Do you have any history on yours? Must have came from the same dealer, no?

I know my car was in CA at one point in her life, but unsure where purchased. Tom, would/did your dealership have any information on your car?

Angelo

I beleive that my car was the first prototype for the single pod dash. When the dash was pulled for re-upholistery Don Byars said that the securing tabs were very custom and redone a few times making him think it was probably the first. That is what put me on my quest to find the other vins around mine to determin if he was correct. After mine I beleive that they used up the two pods they had because there are alot after mine that have the two pod dashes. I am not sure when they ran out and started putting in the one pods exclusively.
In my investigation I think I came accross your car and e-mailed the owner but did not get a responce. My records are at home and I will check it out this week end and get back to you. I beleive he was on the east coast.

I would add pictures of my car to one of these posts but I guess I am just too old a fart to figure out how to do it. An attachment does not seem right, the would be a non-displayed downloadable file and the 'display image' icon asks for a web url, my pics are on my hard drive. Any one care on giving an ol codger a quick tutorial?

Thanks,
Angelo

I did not know that the smooth lid was not prevelant, I do like the cleaner lines. As for the vette, I do miss driving her, that was my daily driver up to about 10 or 12 years ago. I got lazy one day and dropped it off at one of those 'Hand Wax' detailing businesses. Long story short, their idea of hand wax was their hands on a buffer, actually took the paint down to the glass. After my release that night I stripped the car down and had it painted back to black on black. She came home on the flat bed and was pushed in the garage where she has been collecting dust all these years. I made a promise to put the car back together as fast as possible so parts do not start to co-mingle. That was going to be what I was going to work on this weekend BEFORE I discovered the compression problem in the Pantera. sheesh. Hopefully the heads come back from the shop today.

Angelo,

Contact me directly. I have some info on your car... Which I have yet to add to the ProvaMo Registry. Send along your photos for the Detail and Photo page.

As to Garth's comment regarding "Browse" etc: I am working on that feature, it is in testing now.
As to "questionable value"... you get what you pay for! - Grin. So Garth if you are offering to help code some of the search functions, I can use your help (another grin).

As to history and basic info: There is all the info that has been provided about a specific car, and to that what ever I can (accurately) add.

Thanks,

Good day,
Yep, I'm interested in any information on my car! Most of my pics are different file sizes ( new dig camera that I do not know how to use correctly yet) does it matter on file size and how do I upload them. I THINK I have most of the info needed to at least start to register. Can I do that and re-edit at some other time? I know, questions, questions. sorry.

Thanks,
Angelo
