I bought a set last year and I'd buy them again. They sound fine, not a FlowMaster kind of sound but the sound alright. They're not very loud. I think other factors such as cam and compression have more influence on sound that most people give credit for. There is still the "drone sound" around 1800 rpm though. I had to add hangars though. I've changed the rubber biscuit a few times as they keep breaking but I don't think it's any reflection on the mufflers.
I don't have them on my car yet but I have seen them in person. These have no muffling ability. You can look right through them. They are meant to just look like mufflers so maybe Korina got a differnt model (the stainless PI offer only came out last month i think). Very attractive look too. I'll let you know about sound next week.

...growl has the wrong model! I have had them on my cat for over 4000 miles. When first installed, they are quite. Not for the driver that wants to show-off, except for the great polished Stainless Steel. After aprox. 2500-3000 miles they start to 'burn-in' and get their 'Voice'. With these mufflers you will NOT be 'Buzzing' after a long drive...
I hate that 'buzzing' feeling Marlin mentioned I sometimes get after long drives. I'm probably going to replace my mufflers this winter too because of that.
Anybody know of any other mufflers that don't leave your head 'buzzing'?
The stock exhaust system is relatively quiet compared to all the aftermarket systems the vendors sell. I like quiet. My system is still oem. I'll hate to rip it out & replace it with hi-po stuff. The exhaust system Fred Terry built for his Pantera looks very interesting.
The Pantera "boom" is the exitation of a certain low frequency (2000 rpm = about 66 hz) that is reinforced by the volume of the interior.
The buzz you feel after a long ride is the long term exposure to high sound levels, best thing to do would be to make the exhaust quieter and/or acoustically isolate the interior from the engine compartment.
Cruising at 3000 rpm your are constantly exposed to 100 hz. Our ears are less sensitive to low frequency sound, but our bodies are impacted by low frequencies more so than high frequencies. A crossover between the left & right exhaust systems would double the frequency to 200 hz, a more pleasant frequency for your body to endure.
If the Power Pack Mufflers are loud, then I want loud. I want flow through. 180's now being fabbed will connect to Power Pack Mufflers in the stock location. So if anyone has heard the Power Packs please speak up and give me your opinions before I hook up to my Hall Big Bores.
I'm getting them installed this week. Like i said I've seen them and you can see right through. There is no baffling just a can that looks like a muffler...
Let us know if you like them and if they have a basso profundo type sound. We went with this style over the old ones for the "flow through" properties. We only hope that they aren't too loud. Best regards, Dave
I am also very interested to hear what you have to say about the sound. I am looking for some mufflers to replace my old, worn out, and (IMHO) ugly Big Bores. I love the sound they have, but hate the look.
A nice pair of mufflers like that, that sound good? I'm interested!
It would be nice to put some "sound bytes" on this site.. of various exhaust systems. I'd like to trash my rusty big bore headers and get the ones that PI sells. I'd like to see how it would sound when connected to thier stainless mufflers..
As much as I would like to replace mine with stainless steel, I would not ever want to give up the sound mine have unless it was equal or better than I have already.
The Power Packs are going to be a better fit to the 180s than the Big Bores and from what I have heard they sound excellent. Myself and another owner ordered ours yesterday. My understanding is that it took PI almost 10 months to get them and there are only 2 sets left.
Definately want to know about the PI mufflers, thinking of getting some. I emailed PI and they told me that the muffler has no internal buffling,it's just straight through and only buffling on the wall of the muffler. Curious to see how they sound. Dennis
