I originally had a Porscher (club magazine for this area) writer contact me about doing an article on the "project" I was doing. I had not yet disclosed details on the project. I told him that I didn't think his readership would be too enthusiastic about this one. His comment was "As long as you haven't swapped some Chevy motor in there you are probably ok". I said "Well, its not a chevy motor....." . After I told him what was going on he said he would speak with the editor. I was later politely told that the project would not fit with the readership of the magazine however if I wanted to do some general technical articles for them that would be fine. I was not one bit surprised.

The original engine was wet sump as well and also a DOHC design. On some of the Porsche forums it has actually been received warmly as that engine is similar to what porsche likely would have used as a next generation style vs the LS which is a very common swap in these. The car weighs in at just shy of 3400 lbs which is pretty much what a stock one would weigh.

This engine is the Aluminator SC version so comes with forged low compression internals as well as billet oil pump gears. We adapted it to a Corvette Z06 6 speed transaxle as well. It drives great. There is a lot of money sunk into it which arguably will never be returned but the owner has a one of a kind 928 that will outperform the original in every conceivable way. Oh, and for fun sake the name of the project was "Coyote Ugly".
The Porsche people really hate my buddies 911 with a LS, like it's any of their business.
They made him do it, 928S? cost a fortune to rebuild. A pal his shop works on Porsche had a 2010 4 wheel drive 911 turbo with a blown engine and locked up transe, the car cost 250,000 new the customer could not find a buyer so he sold it to the shop for 8,000.
There are a couple of things or more going on there.
One, those Porsche people are a bunch of wussie bit ches.

Two, insurance companies are funny, they will no pay for anything that isn't original equipment.

So, three, the current owner has got to be a complete rebel, not caring that the car could be a total loss and doesn't care about that $1's worth?

That's rare. I've heard those stories time after time. When it comes down to brass tax, everyone wants their money out of it?

This is all great if you get the car, the engine and all the work for absolutely free I think?

It's kind of like a bankruptcy lawyer. He's the only one that gets paid so he doesn't care about anything else.

As long as the mechanic, i.e., fabricator/engineer gets paid, that's all that matters. Plus you get the fun of having built the thing.

Jee-ze! It's not like someone stuffed a supercharded Corvette engine in a Pantera? What's wrong with a Coyote in a Porsche?

Some people just ain't got no soul? Big Grin
The Porsche, forgive me friends but isn't that the car that they put the engine in at the wrong end and gave it a number, 911? I don't know what the number means.

They also made one called the 914, and it was not very good in the rain, I am told that the Porsche Boffins all met together to find the solution, after months of mathematics and wondering what to do, one of the turkish domestic attendants (cleaner) said why not put a concrete front bumper on it. the problem was solved and the turk promoted to senior domestic.

They then made a fantastic car and called it a 928, it was stunning in every respect, but the Porsche diehards Hated it, "it is different" they wailed, we want the one with the engine at the wrong end!!

And they got it, the 928 was binned.

Now someone has made an even better 928, what a grand post.

Funny enough is that I am actually in the works of doing just this. They will have "Porsche" in the Porsche font on them with a small little "Powered by Ford" in the ford cursive at the bottom right. Should be good for a laugh.
